2018 was a year of building foundations here at Slido. We made many changes behind the scenes both in the product and within the team. But it was also an eventful year.
We are grateful for having had the chance to power over 126,000 events worldwide, twice as many as the previous year. Participants submitted 3.5M questions and expressed their views with 11.5M poll votes. That’s a combined total of 15M interactions.
But we wouldn’t have been able to achieve any of this without your help, trust and support.
A huge thank you goes to our customers and partners for putting their trust in us, to our team members for their hard work and enthusiasm and to everyone else who supported us on this journey.
Now, let’s look at the most important moments that marked our 2018.
The Slido family grew stronger
Crossed the 100-employee mark
Our team has grown again. We welcomed 51 new brilliant colleagues from different countries on board last year, which brought us to nearly 130 employees.
Slido Culture Code is out
From the start, our values have reflected who we are and how we strive to do things at Slido. As we crossed the 100-employee mark, we put our values together in a Culture Code to help us scale up our company culture. It sets out who we are, why we exist and what we believe in.
Big move to the brand new HQ office
To accommodate the growing team, we needed office space that would fit everyone in, naturally. After spending months in a transitional workspace, we were all thrilled to move into our shiny new office this summer. We designed it to reflect our values. And we love it!
12 all-hands and 6 offsites to boost the team spirit
To help people bond and strengthen relationships, last year, we gathered the whole team in three all-company offsites and 12 all-hands meetings. It helped us to align ourselves around strategy and goals, celebrate achievements, share learnings and have fun together. Our regional teams also had their own offsites in the US, UK and Asia.
2M minutes of Zoom calls to connect with remote colleagues
With a distributed team across four continents, we wanted to do everything possible to help our remote colleagues feel included. As a result, we spent 2M minutes on Zoom calls – that’s the equivalent of almost four years – and sent each other over 2M Slack messages in 2018.
We put our customers first
20K chats with customers across all time zones
Our customers are at the heart of what we do. In 2018, our support was available across all time zones and we had over 20K chats to advise and help our clients. A huge shout-out to our Customer Care team, and to everyone who took part in our all-company Helpline Rotation program, for their hard work.
Partnerships with 180 world’s most influential events
We wouldn’t have been here without our clients’ events. In 2018, we were honored to be part of nearly 180 of the world’s leading conferences. They provided invaluable insights into the events ecosystem and we are very grateful for the opportunity to work with all of them.
25 events to grow our community
As part of our community-building efforts, we also organized 25 of our own events, from Sydney to San Francisco, including masterclasses, meetups and partner events. We were joined by brilliant speakers from many inspiring companies, including Netflix, Zendesk and Slack. It was a great way to meet our customers, bring the community together and learn from each other.
15M interactions on Slido
Over the last 12 months, Slido empowered 7.6M active users to ask 3.5M questions and express their views in 11.5M poll votes. This totaled over 15M interactions – almost twice as many as last year. Following on with the big numbers, people typed more than 51M words into Slido Questions. Imagine how many books that would make!
We worked to improve our users’ experience
Two major product releases
From all last year’s product releases, two are worth a special mention: We introduced Ideas – the third main Slido feature to help you make brainstorming sessions more productive. We also brought out Event Collaborators, with which you can now invite your colleagues to access your event and help you manage Slido.
Slido Blog with a fresh new face
After months of designing and coding, we also launched the brand new Slido blog. Check it out for practical tips on how to organize and facilitate better, more interactive meetings and events.
New features powered by two internal hackathons
The past year also witnessed our two very first internal hackathons. They brought different teams together to generate product ideas, build something new, learn from each other and spend some quality time. As a result, we added several new projects to the roadmap and speeded up the development process.
And we had reasons to celebrate
Six important family milestones
Our year was also filled with personal milestones that we were happy to celebrate with our colleagues. We welcomed two adorable bundles of joy – Ida and Eliška – into the world. They sparked smiles and chuckles whenever they made appearances during video calls or visited the office.
Also, five of our team members said “yes” to their other halves and tied the knot this year, including one ‘Slido couple.’ Best of luck to all our newlyweds.
Two shiny awards on our shelf
We also had a bunch of reasons to celebrate as a company. We were honored that Slido was recognized as the fourth fastest growing tech company in Central Europe by Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe 2018.
In addition, our Marketing Director Juraj Holub also received the Marketer of the Year Award 2018. Well done, Juraj, and huge thanks for your leadership and support.
