12 Slido Highlights of 2015

Juraj Holub

What a year 2015 was for Slido! We helped to make 5,800 events in almost 100 countries more interactive this year. That’s four time more events than in 2014.

Over the last 12 months, 350,000 attendees actively used Slido to ask more than 200,000 questions, which is around 2.5 million words. With that many words, you could write the entire series of Harry Potter twice.

The total number of poll votes was even higher – delegates sent over 600,000 votes. That tops the sum of all votes cast during the parliamentary elections in Estonia.

We are humbled by the growth we experienced this year. And we believe now is the right moment to say a huge thanks to everyone. We appreciate your trust. We truly do.

And while we’re on it, we’d also like to highlight the moments that were defining for Slido in 2015. Here they are.

Revamping Slido for better user experience

We kicked off 2015 by releasing a new app and a completely redesigned Presentation view. This overhaul made Slido not only visually more appealing but also improved user experience.

In March we teamed up with SXSWedu to “provide a more unique and engaging environment” for their 5,000+ attendees. One of our favourite events and absolute highlights of the year.

Our colleague Peter got married

In April we rejoiced. Our UK country director Peter got married and the whole Slido team joined the newly wed couple in celebration. Best wishes, Peter and Lenka!

Hitting 3,000 events at our 3rd anniversary

Wow, time flies fast! In May we celebrated our third anniversary while also reaching a significant milestone of more than 3,000 events that had used Slido to increase audience interaction.

Corporations are adopting Slido for internal meetings

In June Google shut down Google Moderator and for many companies Slido became the perfect alternative for crowdsourcing questions and generating new ideas during internal meetings. We were thrilled to start working with awesome companies such as Zendesk or Netflix.

Becoming a tool of choice at the events industry events

The beginning of the summer was busy with a number of leading events industry shows. We were honoured that many of them, such as IMEX, ICCA World, Event360 or the Meetings Show selected Slido for engaging their audience.

Expanding to Asia – our first sales representative in Asia

In summer, we grew our team. Along with other three new members, we welcomed onboard Anna, our first representative in Kuala Lumpur, to respond to a growing number of events in South East Asia.

Reaching a milestone of 100k asked questions

Nothing makes us happier than seeing people interact at events. And they did a lot this year. From January to September, active users sent more than 100,000 questions via Slido. In the upcoming three months, we doubled this number!

Democratizing political debates

Giving a voice to the audience has always been at the heart of what we do. We were delighted to see increasing number of governmental institutions (e.g. UK Government, Washington State Government) and political representatives (e.g. the presidential candidates in the Philippines) embrace Slido to democratize the discussions and let people select the questions they were interested in.

Breaking our record with 1,000 events in November alone

In November we reached another milestone. More than 1,000 events used Slido in a single month, including highlight events such as the World Business Forum in New York with Richard Branson and Kevin Spacey or the Festival of Marketing in London featuring the singing Astronaut Chris Hadfield.
